Position Summary

The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit and collections process to ensure timely receipt of customer payments and effective management of customer accounts. This role plays a key part in maintaining healthy cash flow, minimising risk, and supporting strong customer relationships within a high-volume FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.

  • Conduct credit checks, establish credit limits, and assess customer creditworthiness.

  • Monitor accounts for overdue payments and proactively follow up with customers.

  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, and Accounts teams.

  • Process account reconciliations and maintain accurate customer records.

  • Prepare and issue monthly customer statements and reminders.

  • Manage the escalation process for delinquent accounts, including initiating payment plans or recommending accounts for external recovery.

  • Support month-end reporting, including ageing analysis and cashflow forecasting.

  • Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to support efficient credit operations.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, credit procedures, and relevant legislation.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or a similar role FMCG or high-volume environment preferred.

  • Strong understanding of credit and collections principles.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and intermediate Excel skills.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
