Category Manager

MARS is partnering with a highly regarded Western Australian organisation that is currently embarking on a significant transformation program. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join the commercial team as a Category Manager, supporting the uplift of procurement capability and driving commercial value across the business.

About the Opportunity

Reporting into a supportive and collaborative leadership team, you will act as a Business Partner for key internal stakeholders, delivering high-quality commercial outcomes across a range of categories. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, optimising procurement processes, and leading end-to-end sourcing activities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

As the Category Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading source-to-contract activities across assigned categories

  • Running tenders, RFx processes, evaluations, and contract negotiations

  • Managing post-award contract activities including variations, claims and dispute resolution

  • Providing spend insights and identifying opportunities to optimise purchasing and commercial outcomes

  • Enhancing procurement governance, compliance, and end-to-end process improvement

  • Facilitating workshops with operations and other key stakeholders to uplift procurement capability

  • Building strong, trusted relationships and acting as a strategic advisor to the business

  • Supporting the organisation's broader transformation program

About You

You will be an experienced procurement or category management professional who is confident operating as a trusted business partner. You enjoy collaborating with technical teams, contributing strategic insights, and driving commercial value across your portfolio.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in procurement including source to contract and category management

  • Strong capability across sourcing, tendering, evaluation and contract development

  • Experience managing contract variations, performance issues, disputes or claims

  • Ability to analyse spend data and identify opportunities for efficiency or value

  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and guide decisions

  • A continuous improvement mindset and passion for strengthening commercial processes
