Our client is a prominent and well-established retail brand based in Richmond, Melbourne. Known for their commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, they are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Payable and Receivable Lead to support their finance function during a key phase of growth and transformation.
As the Accounts Payable and Receivable Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable functions. You will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, supporting cash flow management, and leading a small team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic retail environment and enjoys process improvement.
Oversee and process supplier invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments
Manage supplier relationships and respond to inquiries or disputes
Monitor and reconcile supplier accounts
Prepare weekly payment runs and ensure compliance with internal controls
Ensure accurate coding and approval of invoices in accordance with company policies
Oversee customer invoicing, receipts, and account reconciliations
Monitor outstanding debts and proactively follow up on overdue accounts
Maintain accurate records of AR transactions and adjustments
Assist with monthly billing cycles and end-of-month reporting
Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to resolve invoice queries
Supervise a small team of AP & AR Officers
Support month-end closing processes including reconciliations and reporting
Assist with audits and ensure documentation is complete and compliant
Continuously review processes to improve efficiency and controls
Report on AP/AR ageing and provide insights to the Finance Manager
5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable and Receivable lead role
Experience in the retail or FMCG sector is highly regarded
Proficiency in accounting software Apparel 21 - Highly advantageous
Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting principles
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring junior staff
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
