Senior Tax Accountant | Temp to Perm

Join a small yet growing tax firm with exposure to senior management, whilst managing a portfolio of ASX listed and large multi-national enterprises.

MARS are partnering with a small but growing tax firm that are looking to hire a Senior Tax Accountant to join their team. This is a newly created role due to business growth and is an initial 6-month contract with the view to go permanent.

Overview:

Working with ASX-listed companies and multinational enterprises, the successful candidate will join a high-performing team of tax specialists that value innovation, collaboration and inclusivity. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a firm that takes a fresh and engaging approach to tax advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and enhance clients' indirect tax governance frameworks and internal controls, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships, gaining a deep understanding of their business operations to identify, validate, and confirm potential indirect tax recoveries.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive findings to clients, addressing queries and providing actionable insights for improvement.
  • Collaborate with clients to streamline and accelerate the preparation and consolidation of relevant data.
  • Review and reconcile client data, ensuring accuracy in tax reports submitted to the ATO, and identifying areas for optimization.
  • Support ATO reviews for Transformation clients, ensuring compliance and providing strategic guidance.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and client objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and CPA/CA/CTA qualification (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, audit, tax compliance, or tax governance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify key insights and ensure accuracy in complex financial data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, driven and proactive in your approach.

To Note:

  • 5 days/week in their Sydney CBD office - flex to 1 day from home once settled into the role.
  • Shorter notice periods are highly preferred.
  • Open to considering tax, audit or accounting backgrounds.
  • Must have long-term working rights in Australia - working holiday visas and/or sponsorship aren't being considered for this role.
