Senior Financial Accountant | 3-6 Month Contract

Opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a high performing and fast paced top 40 ASX listed organisation on an initial 3-6 month contract.

MARS are collaborating with a well-established ASX-listed company ranked within the Top 40, renowned for its extensive history in the Australian market. This organisation boasts numerous high-value revenue channels and maintains a diverse range of operations within its business portfolio.

They are currently seeking a qualified Senior Financial Accountant on an initial 3-6 month contractual basis, to hit the ground running in their vibrant and high-performing team. This role encompasses responsibilities across financial reporting, month-end closure, and financial account preparation for the Group.

The Responsibilities:

  • Support the month-end closing process, including posting monthly journals, analysing profit and loss, and reconciling balance sheets
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end accounts for the Group.
  • Assist in consolidation journals and preparation of the parent entity and subsidiaries' reporting packages.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly Business Activity Statement (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) reports.
  • Preparation of ABS surveys.
  • Aid in monthly tax computations and the preparation of necessary tax documentation.
  • Provide assistance with ad-hoc technical inquiries and the creation of technical accounting papers as needed.
  • Assist with audit inquiries and the compilation of requested audit information.
  • Champion ongoing enhancements and process improvements in financial reporting.

The Requirements:

  • Degree educated and CA qualified (Essential)
  • 4+ years' experience with a combination of a Big 4/Mid-Tier background with subsequent commercial experience or solely commercial experience (Essential)
  • Sound technical accounting skills and AASB/IFRS knowledge
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise and build rapport with senior stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic, eager to acquire new knowledge and have a keen eye for detail
  • Proven ability to meeting tight reporting deadlines
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP systems

To Note:

  • They operate in their Sydney CBD office 5 days a week.
  • Only candidates with 6+ months of commercial experience will be considered for this role.
  • Working holiday visas are encouraged to apply if still valid for more than 4 months.
  • Must be available at 2 weeks' notice or less.
