Senior Communications & Events Manager – Infrastructure | Fixed-Term Contract

As a Senior Communications & Events Manager, you will be comfortably developing communications strategy, with the hands-on implementation of various communications and media initiatives, workshops and similar public events. Working with global public and private sectors, increasing the flow and quality of infrastructure projects by raising the organisations profile in domestic and international media.


The position is a fixed-term contract, commencing in February 2019 through to December 2020.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing an integrated communications strategy and distribution plan (across digital, multimedia, print, events etc.)
  • Writing and editing a range of materials for print, web-based or physical audiences
  • Developing and delivering successful targeted media relations campaigns, events and conferences with associated media engagements
  • Negotiating international PR support for media campaigns and managing international PR contracts
  • Monitoring press and media coverage
  • Working with the internal teams to ensure a coherent and consistent approach to communication and branding, and identifying and developing key messages and engagement initiatives
  • Supporting and advising staff on communications and media engagement effectiveness
  • Coordinating the publications calendar including the monthly Board updates and regular updates to stakeholders
  • Advising on, writing and editing media releases, opinion articles and other articles, and pitching these materials to suitable media, including proactively identifying opportunities
  • Working with the Events and Digital Communications Manager to deliver high-level external events
  • Assist with coordinating seminars, events and launches to maximise positive coverage
  • Update and maintain the website, blog and online presence, including content creation and management
  • Leading strategy development and implementation for social media platforms and campaigns


Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, in the fields of corporate communications and publishing/journalism with a successful track record of delivering communication programs
  • Tertiary qualified in communications, marketing or related discipline with 5 – 8+ years equivalent experience
  • Experience in an international organisation or an industry body/association, ideally with a mix of private and public sector roles
  • Preferably hold experience in communications, stakeholder, events in an infrastructure/transport space
  • Experience working in events with strong PR/Comms and media functions
  • Working with and building a strong network of international media contacts
  • Ability to be a dynamic self-starter and work in a collaborative work environment
  • Strong copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills
  • Working knowledge of design and publication skills is desirable
  • Experience of drafting clear, consistent and targeted messages for external and internal audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment
  • Hold an understanding of infrastructure markets
  • Availability to travel internationally as required
