Senior Communications Advisor – Media

Work for a leading Australian financial services firm in their Media and Communications team on a 12 month fixed term contract

The Media and Communications team supports and implements the external relations and employee
engagement strategies that support the business and Australia’s leading network of brands.

This is an integrated external-internal role which reports directly to the Executive Manager. The role supports
the development and deployment of effective media relations programs and employee engagement strategies
to enhance and protect the business reputation. This team is also responsible for managing media and social
media issues quickly and effectively, and where necessary, in liaison with the broader Corporate Affairs team
and business subject matter experts.


Role and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of integrated media programs and internal communication plans, in line with the Insurance business plan and media strategy.
  • Provide communications support the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Write and coordinate the distribution of integrated campaigns, media releases, speeches and briefing notes for external events and communications.
  • Provide media support for issues management to maintain a positive image for the network of brands.
  • Develop timely responses to media enquiries in consultation across operational areas and in line with approval processes.
  • Identify and produce in-house digital content as part of a group content production team and support business brands by working collaboratively with the Media & Digital Content team to develop engaging content.
  • Be proactive in identifying issues, problems and opportunities, and assist in formulating appropriate responses.
  • Use innovative communications techniques to successfully drive outcomes through design, digital channels and stakeholder engagement.
  • Leverage business insights, skills and abilities across the Corporate Affairs team to ensure that practices are highly efficient and effective.
  • Build and maintain trusted stakeholder relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with other Corporate Affairs and Marketing functions to help deliver an integrated approach.

To be successful you’ll need to have:


  • Degree in Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, PR, or business-related discipline. Mandatory


  • Five plus years’ experience as a senior media advisor and/or employee engagement communications professional in a major corporation, public relations agency or government department. Mandatory
  • Strong understanding of the Insurance industry, or Financial Services. Desired
