Fund Accounting Manager

Looking for an experienced Fund Accounting Manager for an established Australian Investment Manager.

MARS Recruitment has teamed up with a reputable Investment Manager to find a dynamic and seasoned Fund Accounting Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure oversight and compliance with all tax and accounting functions for the Funds. This includes managing agreements with external suppliers, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and facilitating changes to product offerings. Additionally, the position involves mentoring and developing team members within the Fund Accounting department.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Fund Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of effectively leading a small team of professionals and possess a deep understanding of the fund accounting and tax landscape. This includes knowledge of investment securities and products, as well as familiarity with relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely preparation of Financial Statements and Board papers for the Funds.
  • Supervise distribution calculations and reporting, especially IMD data.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate submission of Funds' tax returns (including BAS) and manage other tax affairs.
  • Oversee RG97 calculations, rebates, investment management fees, and administration fees prepared by Fund Accountants.
  • Oversight of daily super cash and trade instructions to the custodian.
  • Assist in new product development, per guidance from CFO, Investments team, Finance, and Operations, including PDS rolls and RG97 compliance.
  • Oversee the risk and control framework for accounting, tax, and valuations.
  • Ensure compliance with Unit Pricing and Valuation policies and other regulatory financial obligations.
  • Implement changes prompted by regulatory updates, including new accounting standards and regulatory guides.
  • Manage relationships with Funds Registrar and custodian outsourcing providers.
  • Provide effective coaching, mentoring, development, and performance management for a team.

Criteria:

  • 10+ years of experience in fund accounting, tax, and unit pricing within the Investment Management sector.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience.
  • Strong background in Managed Investment Schemes highly desirable.
  • ASIC RG146 Super and Managed Funds accreditation required.
  • CA/CPA qualified (or international equivalent).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal abilities, fostering effective collaboration across departments.
