Financial Controller | 10-Month Contract | Financial Services

Looking for a high-performing Financial Controller for a large, leading ASX-listed financial services organisation.

MARS Recruitment is teaming up with an ASX-listed Financial Services organization in search of a motivated, business-oriented, and seasoned Financial Controller for a 10-month contract. The Financial Controller's key responsibilities include supporting the execution of strategic priorities, ensuring compliance with tax and statutory requirements, overseeing consolidated financial reporting, managing board and management reporting, delivering insightful financial analysis, and serving as a key authority on all financial matters.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller or Head of Finance with prior experience in investment or funds management. A proven track record of leading a small team of professionals and a hands-on approach are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare large, complex budgets and forecasts in a timely manner
  • Oversee the team's deliverables related to financial and statutory reporting
  • Deliver annual financial reports, management reports, and board reports on time
  • Develop analytical models and prepare external reporting and submissions
  • Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital management
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insightful recommendations
  • Develop financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure best practices
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to perform effectively
  • Take a proactive, hands-on approach to resolving finance matters within the team and across the business
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, while serving as a key influencer


Criteria:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in a Financial Controller or Head of Finance role within the financial services sector
  • CA/CPA qualified (or international equivalent)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards
  • Proven track record in managing large budgets and complex processes and transactions
  • Experience in developing predictive models
  • Hands-on experience with consolidated financial reporting and vendor management
  • Advanced report writing skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
