Financial Accountant | 6 Month Contract

Opportunity for a qualified Accountant to join a large, fun and fast paced organisation within a financial reporting focused role.

MARS are proudly partnering with a large and renowned organisation that have a strong presence in the Australian market. They're looking to hire a Financial Accountant to join their high performing team on an initial 6 month contract, playing a pivotal role in supporting the financial accounting and reporting functions.

The Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in preparing the financial statements including balance sheet reconciliations, profit & loss and cashflow statement.
  • Responsible for processing and posting month-end journals including accruals.
  • Calculate prepayments and provision balances.
  • Assist with preparation of all statutory accounts and associated information for regulatory reports.
  • Reviewing month-end results and providing insightful commentary on variances across budgets and forecasts.
  • Collaborating with the commercial team to finalise month-end accounts.
  • Provide insightful analysis and advice to key stakeholders to support decision making.
  • Prepare and compile audit and related information for all statutory and internal audits.
  • Advise on accounting treatment for projects and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance finance processes and systems.

The Requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree and CA/CPA qualification.
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role within a medium-large organisation.
  • At least 1 year experience in a commercial role if from an audit/business services background.
  • Proven experience in month-end close and reporting.
  • Confident in Microsoft Excel (essential) and experience in Oracle (beneficial).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with senior stakeholders.
  • Proactive in nature and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to identify and implement improvements to existing processes and procedures.


To Note:

  • Must be available at less than 2 weeks notice.
  • Working holiday visa holders are encouraged to apply.
  • If from an audit background, at least 1 year experience in a commercial role is required.
  • They offer hybrid working of 2 days in the office, 3 days from home.
  • There is free parking provided on-site.
