Communications Lead for Pacific (Aus & NZ)


Our client is a retailer with a global footprint on the hunt for a 12-month maternity leave cover for the role of Communications Lead for Pacific (Australia and New Zealand). This role is full-time and based in their Melbourne office and sits on the Asia Pacific Latin America Communications team.


  • As a member of the APLA Communications team you'll collectively create and execute strategic, integrated, impactful communications plans for the geography
  • As the Communications Lead develop and execute highly innovative and targeted communications strategies, messages and tactics that engage key audiences and position our client as a leading innovation brand across Pacific, with priority focus on Australia.
  • You'll lead and drive communication strategies with a particular focus on sport, innovation, growth and mission.
  • You'll support senior level executives across the Pacific business and their communications strategies to engage with employees.
  • Youll support global corporate communications strategies/events where appropriate, manage ad-hoc communications issues related to Pacific, manage sports marketing assets from a communications perspective and create communications plans, track timelines and manage communications budget.
  • You'll build and execute employee meetings and events as prioritized for Communications and manage internal communication channels. You'll also manage internal and external communications approval processes where appropriate.

This senior communications role reports to the VP of Communications directly and sits on the Australia Pacific Communications Leadership team.

PLease note there is 10-15% travel for this role.


You will work with a variety of key stakeholders including the Pacific leadership team, Pacific communications contractors and agencies, the Pacific marketing team, the four other Communications team territories (Korea, Japan, Latin America & Mexico and SEA&I). You will also be a part of the Global Communications team and work with Global Comms teammates on a regular basis.


  • 10+ years professional experience in high profile corporate communications and/or public relations roles supporting globally branded organisations. Experience with big brands and footwear/apparel industry preferred
  • Management skills including high-profile communications, corporate communications, issues management, consumer and product communications, strategic planning, budgeting and creative solutions with experience in developing proactive, creative communications and extensive communications strategies
  • Demonstrated and extensive experience writing and editing for print, multi-media formats and digital social formats.
  • Experience managing media relationships end-to-end.
  • Experience communicating to and working with senior executives to provide strategic counsel, clearly articulate ideas, successfully manage differing points of view and strengthen relationships and rapport
  • Be a confident professional who could hit the ground running and execute at a high level
  • Proven ability to influence strategies or outcomes with senior leaders
  • Proven ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis, including presenting before audiences of various sizes
  • Experience in managing employee experiences and communications plans, including but not limited to Leader Notes, and Town Hall style meetings
