Locum Sexual Assault Counsellor | NT

12 week contract in Northern Territory working for a Sexual Assault Counselling Service helping children and young adults

Child & Youth Sexual Assault Counsellor (Crisis + Ongoing)
Join a passionate multidisciplinary team providing crisis intervention and long-term counselling to children, young people, and their families affected by sexual violence. About the Role

  • Provide therapeutic counselling and support to children, young people, and families impacted by sexual assault.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary crisis response and child-protection taskforce meetings.
  • Deliver education, training, and advice to raise awareness and strengthen community prevention.
  • Build strong partnerships with health and community services to enhance support for young clients.
  • Participate in the on-call roster as required and maintain service quality and safety standards.


What You'll Need

  • Relevant tertiary degree as a Social Worker, Counsellor or Registered Psychologist
  • AASW, AHPRA, APS membership
  • Australian working rights - working holiday visa's welcome
  • Minimum 3 years experience delivering counselling to children and young people affected by trauma or sexual assault.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention models and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural issues.
  • Experience delivering education or training focused on young people.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Valid driver's licence
