About the business and the role

My client is a well known medium sized organisation undertaking a large digital transformation. As part of this, they are seeking a Cloud Systems  Administrator to join a newly created team who will manage, support and maintain all technologies and applications in AWS.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure
  • Provide a seamless delivery of support services to all internal stakeholders
  • Deployment of applications and services into AWS using a variety of automation tools such as Cloudformation, Puppet and Cloud provider API’s
  • Troubleshooting, performance tuning and optimisation of cloud-hosted applications and services in AWS
  • Working with application development teams using continuous delivery practises and toolsets, ie. Git, Jenkins, automated testing tools
  • Ensuring security methods and processes are in-line with security policies
  • Providing them a customised solution when required, ongoing support and continuous improvement

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud hosted technologies (Mandatory)
  • Hands-on experience with Office 365 suite is highly desriable
  • Demonstrated experience with Identity Management and authentication tools including Okta
  • Experience with automating, managing and monitoring AWS services: EC2, EBS, ELB, Route53, Cloudformation, S3, Cloudwatch, Autoscaling, VPC and RDS
  • Strong Linux skills: debugging, package management, performance tuning and administration
  • Experience with Windows OS build, configuration and automation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies like AD, DFS, Backup Utilities
  • Experience with IT automation and configuration management tools including Puppet
  • Knowledge of Middleware technologies (ie. Tomcat, Apache and Java)
  • Familiarity with systems management concepts, capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network concepts such as subnetting, DNS and routing/switching
